Snowy Egret

The San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine, California is a haven for many resident and migratory birds.  It's run and owned by the Irvine Water District.  This is a Snowy Egret.  At time they appear like a relatively large bird, but when you are up close to one, they are surprisingly very small and petite.  I took this photo on 3/25/15, late afternoon.
