Northern Cardinal in sunny California!

What a thrill it was to see this bird in Southern California.  It's out of it's historical/normal range for a Cardinal, however, it's been reported that there is a Cardinal population here at Whittier Narrows Nature Center in South El Monte, California for quite some time.  It's moved westwardly from it's normal range.

Creative and perfect sign I saw at Mitchell Gold Bob Williams Homec Store on April 25, 2015.

Fullerton Arboretum, 4/23/15

First time at this lovely place. Gardens are wonderful, including vegetable, floral, desert, chaparral, and orchard. Many bird species. There's also a native plant shop, all grown there at the arboretum. I'd definitely go again.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

I wear a ruffled neckline for special occasions.

Orange Colored Glasses

I like to read and drink tea. I bake apple pies and eat while watching the television. A cat at my feet and a bird at my window. That's just the way it is.

Blue Buntings

This is a painting on an envelope that I eventually addressed to someone in the UK.  It housed artwork that I had to mail.  I considered her a Blue Bunting, hence "Two Blue Buntings".  I've yet to see an actual Blue Bunting bird and don't know if I ever will in my lifetime.  They live in Central America and are a rare sight in Texas.

A Bowl of Cereal and Tokidoki

A treat at any time of day...bowl of cereal with fruit.
The Tokiedoki toy is by designer Simone Legno from Los Angeles.  His characters are playful rebels.  This one is from the CACTUS FRIENDS series.  It's name is Molandrino.  http://www.tokidoki.it/cactus/

Blueberry Pancakes and tea are the finest of foods to indulge in.

In the Kitchen

My aunt Lilly is the last of my father's siblings who still makes home made tortillas, a tradition handed down by my grandmother. They are the best!

Sifting flour in my kitchen while birds feed outside my window.

Making dough for cookies.

The Garden Table

Break time birding in my garden

When I trim back the garden plants I place the cuttings in a vase and leave the vase on my yard table until they have dried out, approximately a week or two, yet succulent cuttings last much longer.

Desktop Pleasantries

I enjoy the intensity of the sun adds to colored glass.

A teapot I received as a gift from dear friends.  It's from Teavana. Delicious Oolong and English teas have been had many of times from this pot.

This rubber monkey in an inflated floating ring was the perfect item to organize my rubberband supply.

Easter Day 2015

Easter Sunday brought hues of green, black, gray and yellows to Newport Beach Back Bay.

This appears to be a young Allen's Hummingbird

This is a Common Raven with it's classic wedge shaped tale.  A crow would have a straight edge tail.

Tunnel to the cliff view of the bay.

A tiny and lovely specimen among green blades.

Harris's Sparrow in California!!!

This is a rare visitor to California.  Two fellow birders and myself got to see this Harris's Sparrow on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at White Point Beach in San Pedro, Ca.  It was very exciting to see it and hear it sing.  This was a "life" bird for my two birding companions and myself.  "Life" bird means it's a bird someone has personally seen for the very first time.
